F1 2010: The return of the Red Baron, and a new chapter in the sport.

One of two great names to return to the F1 grid this year

7 Time World Champion Schumacher is back as part of an all German lineup at Mercedes . . .

Alonso sees red and likes it

. . . Alonso's ready to drive the new F10 alongside a recuperated Felipe Massa for the Scuderia . . .

Felipe

. . . and Vettel has marching orders . . .

There will be plenty of competition amongst the top teams this year . . .

Hamilton and Button on the podium in Valencia

. . . with little doubt Button's next challenge will be bigger than his last.

As you probably have heard, several new teams have been working towards a place on the grid in 2010, and it's with a heavy heart that many US Formula 1 fans have learned that US F1 Team will not be competing this season.  The latest interview with the team suggests there's currently a wait while the FIA considers what to do with the team's request for a spot on the 2011 grid.

Among the new teams who will be on the grid in 2010, one you've heard of has been re-introduced - Lotus racing.

The famous name in racing marks the return of the green and yellow . . .

Jim Clark, 1963

. . . and the nephew of one of it's legendary drivers . . .

Bruno

. . . brings back his late uncle's name to Formula 1

Ayrton

Join us for the last night-time GP viewing event this season on Saturday at Zeke's . . .

We've got a special night of racing (in the wet?) ready for all to enjoy this Saturday night - a live viewing of the Japanese GP from Suzuka.

Lewis has been waiting a while for this next race . . .

Hamilton wins from P1 on a crowded Singapore circuit

. . . long before his win in Singapore last weekend.

We've been unable to raffle Paul-Henri's photos the past two races - as many of you know our duels with the NFL community at Kezar has been valiantly fought but without time or space to do our usual end of race prize giveaways.  That's about to change this Saturday night, and we're lucky to have a pair of race tickets to add to the list thanks to our friends at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

Our friends at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca have kindly offered a pair of three day passes to the Monterey Sports Car Championships.  These races will feature two great finales over the weekend, with the ALMS season wrapping up along with the Cooper Tires Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda.  The Atlantics race will feature mentioned USF1 driver candidate, Jonathan Summerton, who will be fighting for the title with two other drivers in a 3-way title battle.

Next weekend's season finale will also be featuring Gil deFerran's last turn around a racecourse as a driver, as well as an appearance by Jim Hall, racing innovator, F1 driver, and legendary race car builder.

Thanks again to our sponsors at F1-Photo.com and Griffin Motorwerke - we'll have photos to raffle as well after the races.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the races . . . and have a look at this interesting article covering a 'McNish moment' at Suzuka.

Join us for racing under the lights from Singapore at a special new time this Sunday . . .

You spoke - and we listened - so we're moving the event ahead in the day for more access to screens at Kezar this Sunday morning. We're going to get things started with an 8am pre-race, and 8:30am flag drop at Kezar Pub. We look forward to watching the races with you, and hope you can join us for the Singapore GP at this earlier time. Please stay tuned to these updates for race times/locations as we work with S.F. venues to make for a better viewing experience. Also - Charlotte has mentioned that parking is available on Kezar Drive, and there's usually not a problem finding parking within 2 blocks of the venue.

Lately, Renault, Flavio, Pat, and Nelsinho have been dominating the news, with two out of the four on an enforced hiatus from FIA events and F1, but amazingly no new record-breaking fine for anyone involved. Politics aside, there's still a fight for the titles in the final four Grands Prix, and here are the dates for your calendars. After this Sunday's race from Singapore we hope to be raffling photos from the races thanks to our sponsors Paul-Henri at F1-Photo.com, and Terry Griffin of Griffin Motorwerke.

For his latest work from Monza:

Another Brawn 1-2 . . .

Join us for an exciting race from Monza, and meet a great new group of F1 fans this Sunday . . .

Thanks again to everyone who joined us last race with a great group of Formula 1 faithful at Kezar Pub. It has been too long since all F1 fans in SF were under the same roof for a Grand Prix, and we look forward to watching the races together with all our friends, old and new. We're also looking forward to introducing everyone to Charlotte, who has been organizing F1 events at Kezar Pub - you'll all get to know her soon as a friend and passionate follower of the sport.

The show from Belgium was another race to remember, and after this Sunday's race from Monza we'll be raffling off the photos below from the race thanks to our sponsors Paul-Henri at F1-Photo.com, and Terry Griffin of Griffin Motorwerke. Paul-Henri also has a new Facebook Group, featuring updates on upcoming projects and shows.

Fred and Lou pt. 2

. . . adding another chapter to an old rivalry.

Special thanks again to Charlotte, who really saved the day last race and took everyone in to watch on a moment's notice last race. While Overtime seems to be no longer with us, we wish Katie, Matt, and the OT staff the best in the future.

This Sunday's pre-race coverage begins at 9am, so please note the earlier start time as we're working around different sports schedules as we wind up the rest of the season. Brunch will be served, and we encourage you to place meal orders early at the morning's event as the kitchen will get busy.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the races!

In other news- Team US F1 has announced a primary sponsorship with Silicon Valley startup, YouTube.

In a recent interview with SPEEDTV, Team US F1 CEO Ken Anderson and YouTube co-founder Chad Hurley were featured along with questions from Bob Varsha and the viewing audience. The Bay Area has long been a source of both Formula 1 fans and sponsors, and it's good to see the new team finding local energy and innovation as they continue to get ready for the grid in 2010.

Sponsors and motorsport have been going hand in hand for some time, so we'd like to thank our friends at F1-Photo.com and Griffin Motorwerke

BMW exits Formula 1

Long faces in Munich . . .

As recently reported on Autosport, BMW has announced that it will end its involvement with F1 after the 2009 season.

Formula 1 as a marketing platform was becoming less and less relevant to the company's strategy moving forward - so what does this say about other major manufacturers involved in the sport? Is Toyota next?

With such a well-funded effort, and so many different parts as an organization, how much of BMW's investment in Formula 1 will be made useful moving forward to their car making operations, and which specialized talent and resources will end up working with the current and new teams?
